25 Mar 21st Themed Party Ideas
A 21st birthday party should be one to remember! Turning 21 is the coming of age where you’re considered to be an official adult. 21st birthday parties are a wonderful time to bring together friends and family to celebrate and share stories of your past and hopes for the future. Need some ideas for your 21st birthday party? Here are our favourite 21st themed party ideas…
1.When I grow up…
From firefighters and nurses, to dancers and presidents – this theme will bring on all sorts of past memories when you dreamed of what you wanted to be when you grew up. I attended a 21st where the birthday boy dressed as his Dad. I lovely gesture and idea if you look up to your mum or dad! Otherwise , think back to a time of innocence and naivety and get kitted out in the outfit you dreamt of wearing in your job when you were a kid.
2. Why did you wear that to by party?
This theme opens up just about anything as a dress code! Although it lends itself to more bizarre items of clothing. Hessian sacks, tutus and Speedos are just some of the things I’ve seen people wear to a party with this theme. Throw in a prize for the best dressed to make sure people put effort into their wild attire.
3. Great Gatsby/Roaring 20s Party
Most people love an excuse to chuck on a feathered headpiece and flapper dress. The 20s marked decade of the “Jazz Age” – plenty of good music, drink dance and fun. All the sorst of things you want at a good 21st! Serve cocktails in tea cups and champagne in crystal glasses. Use fake furs, velvets and dark colours for decor. Here’s a 1920s playlist you can use as guests are walking in. Keep an eye out for our next blog on “How to throw a 1920s party” – coming soon!
4. Oscar Party
If you’re not a fan of dressing up you could have an Oscar Party theme. This is all about glitz and glamour. Gowns, dresses and tuxedos is the dress code here. Decor can include a red carpet (of course), black draping on the ceiling and walls and gold stars dotted around the place. Give out an Oscar man as a prize for the best dressed.
5. Thrift Shop Party
Get your guests to dress in clothes bought from a thrift shop. To make it extra challenging set a rule that the outfit needs to have cost $5 or under. Have a prize for the most outrageous outfit. This is a good theme to also support charity stores. This theme lends itself to an eclectic mix of decor! Bulky old couches, mismatched drinking glasses and plates and upcycled items like tin cans for vases work well for this theme.
